Apply Now for Up To £1000 for Solar Training in London

ELIGIBLE COMPANIES can now apply for up to £1,000 of funding to support solar training for employees, as well as training in energy storage and low-carbon technologies.

Applications close on the 14th of January, 2022. There is more information in guidance documents and application forms on the Solar Energy UK website here.

The funding is offered as part of the Solar Skills London project to provide training and support for people who want to pursue a career in the solar industry. It is a joint project by the solar industry trade association, Solar Energy UK, and the Mayor of London.

The funding is for training, industry placements and apprenticeships for London’s solar businesses to provide training for their employees in solar PV technology.

Increasing the use of solar energy in London is key to the Mayor of London’s target of reaching net zero carbon by 2030 and will support green jobs for Londoners.

Solar Training

London is already host to innovative solar projects, which include Hackney Light and Power, a company launched by Hackney Council to provide renewable energy services. Also, Solar Together, the pioneering group-buying scheme which has seen wide take-up in the capital.

The Solar Action Plan sets a target to achieve 1 gigawatt of installed solar energy capacity in London by 2030, and 2 gigawatts by 2050, which will require 20 times more solar energy generation. Through spatial mapping and access to technical support the London Solar Opportunity Map accurately highlights opportunity areas for installing solar and storage in homes and businesses.

More information is available from the Solar Skills London project page.
