Burton Roofing Merchants welcomed its key suppliers and customers to its Leeds hub showcasing its huge range of products as part of the annual Burton Roofing Roadshow yesterday.
The independent stockist and distributor, that has 35 years of trade experience, also opened its doors to students from Leeds College of Building (LCB) as well roofing contractors and other professionals, enabling them to get hands-on with new products, test their skills with games and take home a whole host of free merchandise.
Cure It, Wienerberger, Redland, YBS Insulation, Cupa Pizarras, Royston Lead, BMI IcoPal and Redland, Ubbink, Marley Eternit, VELUX, Imerys, Women in Roofing and CT1 all set up stands at the event, offering a range of roofing activities such as slate cutting and lead bossing.
Demonstrations in lead craftsmanship were provided by Steve Hempstock, former LCA Chairman and managing director of North-West Lead Ltd, who has now passed control of the business down to his son Paul. Steve commented: “The lead industry has changed a lot over the last few years due to HSE regulations, but basic principles and practices remain the same.
“It is important to showcase our lead industry at events like this to inspire young roofers and pass vital skills down to the next generation.”
The Roadshow, which began last Tuesday, has visited six Burton Roofing branches in total – Newcastle, Stockton, York, Hull, Leeds and Sheffield.
Burton Roofing director, Mark Pryvis said: “All the events have been very well attended and our suppliers have really bought into them putting on some fantastic displays and interactive activities. It’s great to see so many of our customers and we are happy to see the students of LCB taking such an interest in today’s event.”
