BUSINESS MINISTER Alok Sharma has written an open letter to everyone in the construction industry thanking them for their ‘invaluable contribution to the economy’.
The letter, dated 12 November, says the construction sector is a ‘key part of the economy’ and that ‘Building merchants and hardware stores will be able to stay open to support this as normal or through click-and-collect services.’
The minister says he wants to pay tribute to everyone working in construction and express his admiration for those continuing to work on site or in peoples’ homes.
He also mentions the supply chain, including builders’ merchants, designers and project managers and producers of construction products and raw materials.
The minister closes with the assurance that he is in contact with industry leaders about the risks, issues and challenges you face.
