CITB IS EXTENDING the reach of the Construction Ambassador Scheme by inviting existing ambassadors to join STEM Learning. The move has been made in association with Build UK.
STEM Learning is the largest Ambassador platform in the UK and provides education and careers support in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). The organisation has over 30,000 Ambassadors and 19 STEM Hubs across the UK which offer a range of support, opportunities and local expertise.
STEM has a digital platform with information about events and resources and the ability to provide feedback and covers all UK secondary schools.
Construction ambassadors volunteer to speak to young people or any other groups who are considering a career in construction. Ambassadors speak on what it’s like to work in the construction industry and help recruit new talent into the industry. The ambassador scheme was set up by CITB’s Go Construct initiative to help address the construction skills shortage.
Joining the STEM platform allows construction ambassadors who are currently contributing via the Go Construct website to arrange to visit more local schools and colleges and present the roles and benefits of working in the construction industry.
There’s more information on becoming a construction ambassador and joining the STEM platform on the Go Construct website.
Build UK has produced a video about construction ambassadors and STEM Learning.
