Your act of kindness will make a lasting impact, helping a homeless person find shelter and support and providing a dignified and comfortable place for a child or adult with a life-limiting illness to share precious moments with loved ones.

The difference your donation will make

Well-designed and expertly built environments have a positive effect on how people feel and behave. Together, we deliver lasting social impact in communities across the UK. Here are two examples of our work, creating places that care for people.

Kairos Nunhead Lane extension and refurbishment

Kairos Community Trust approached CRASH for help to extend and renovate one of their move-on houses, which was desperately in need of refurbishment.

Kairos Community Trust is dedicated to helping homeless men and women with drug and alcohol problems. Homelessness and addiction are twin problems, and Kairos believes that the journey to recovery begins in a safe, secure environment that people can call home.

CRASH Corporate Patrons, Bauder, British Gypsum, Arcadis and AECOM came together to deliver the project, creating a new kitchen/diner, bathrooms, and therapy rooms. The extensive works have enlarged and enhanced the property, making it more welcoming and homely to the residents and day programme clients. The improvements have given residents a safe space to continue their journey from homelessness to independent living and will benefit Kairos and its service users for many years to come.

“The CRASH contribution to the development of Nunhead Lane was as vital and all-inclusive as ever. Help came in the form of funding, building materials, expert professional advice, and time. It would not be possible or have happened without CRASH. All for our vulnerable homeless at a time of pandemic – thanks CRASH.”

Mossie Lyons, Director at Kairos Community Trust

Greenwich and Bexley Community Hospice dining room extension

Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice applied to CRASH to help create a much-needed new dining room so that patients who are strong enough have the option to eat somewhere other than their room and sometimes with their visitors. They also wanted a space for people to celebrate special occasions such as weddings, birthdays, and anniversaries.

Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice provides specialist palliative care to people who have a terminal illness, as well as facilities for their families and carers. The hospice offers free, high-quality, compassionate care and support for over 2,500 people each year through their services at the hospice, in people’s homes and day clinics.

CRASH Corporate Patrons Bauder, Arcadis, Areen Design, Dulux Trade, London Building Control, Newtownstewart Construction, Sunbelt Rentals, and many CRASH supporters provided their professional expertise and construction products to build the new dining room extension for the hospice. Thanks to their incredible generosity, patients now have a beautiful space where they can relax and enjoy precious time with those they love

“This was a project the hospice had needed for some time, but I didn’t think it was going to happen any time soon – until CRASH came along. What a difference the new extension makes to the amount of space available and the area’s mood. It is considerably brighter and now opens out onto a much-improved courtyard full of sun and flowers. Patients, families, and visitors now have easy access to an improved kitchen, dining room and courtyard. The current COVID-19 situation has highlighted the stress and anxiety of dealing with terminal illness. Thank you for all the work that CRASH and your Corporate Patrons put into giving our terminally ill patients, visitors and staff something special.”
