CSCS Smart Check App Development Latest

Mobile phone app being checked on construction site - CSCS Smart Check app

IN DECEMBER the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) announced the launch of a new CSCS Smart Check app which, for the first time, will allow all the 2.1 million cards displaying the CSCS logo to be electronically verified in one app.

CSCS says the new CSCS Smart Check app, developed by the 38 card schemes displaying the CSCS logo, will improve the construction industry’s card checking procedures and site safety.

RoofCert, the roofing accredtation scheme, is part of the CSCS card scheme.

The rollout of the app begins in April 2022, allowing construction employers to check everyone on site has the right qualifications and training for the job they do.

The app can be used to check contactless chips in smart cards, as well as QR codes in both virtual and physical cards covering all cards displaying the CSCS logo.

Since December, a project team at CSCS has developed a central secure database for verifying the details of CSCS cards. Testing of the database will take place in January and February.

The app has already had 14 card schemes integrated and CSCS says all 38 card schemes will be completed throughout February at which time testing will start.

CSCS App Early Adopters

In December CSCS recruited early adopter volunteers to help test the app including several major contractors.

The volunteers are being contacted by CSCS and its IT partner, StableLogic, in the coming weeks with details of demonstration and training events, and expectations for testing and feedback during the coming months.
