EX-BLUES AND BAGGIES striker and local philanthropist Geoff Horsfield was the special guest for the grand opening of MKM Building Supplies new Birmingham North branch.
The builder’s merchant, celebrating its 84th new UK branch, invited the football legend to officially open its doors to the trade and general public on 1 June.
To kick off the celebrations the branch teamed up with Geoff and pledged its support to The Geoff Horsfield Foundation – a charity that provides quality, safe and secure housing accommodation for homeless and vulnerable adults in and around Birmingham.
Jason Hart, one of the branch directors at MKM Birmingham North, said: “As a local, independent business, being at the heart of the community is vitally important to us.
“Geoff’s a real local hero, not just from his time on the pitch, but the work that he and his foundation do around Birmingham is absolutely amazing and truly heartwarming. The foundation makes such a difference to the people’s lives they touch, so we are looking forward to supporting them and playing our part in making a difference in the local area too.”
Open to the trade and public, MKM Birmingham North is located on a 1.45 acre site at the Minworth Trade Park in Sutton Coldfield.
Creating 19 new jobs, the branch stocks heavyside materials and products for heating and plumbing , landscaping, roofing, electrical, drainage and civils, insulation and plaster board, workwear and timber, sheet and joinery.
MKM also offers estimating services, brick matching and free same day or next day local deliveries.
Heading up MKM Birmingham North with Jason Hart is Luke Donnelly.
David Kilburn, Founder of MKM Building Supplies Limited, said: “The business is growing at an incredible rate across the UK based on the quality of our service offering and the Birmingham North branch is another example of how we plan to take this to the next level.
“We are absolutely delighted to open our 84th site nationwide, but more importantly, it’s our first in the Birmingham area.”
