Using exciting and fun tasks, such as assembling mini roof rigs, quizzes, videos and ‘what would you do?’ scenarios, a new Associate course starts next month for both recent entrants into the roofing sector in a supervisory or management role, and those wanting to start their own roofing business.
The course aims to prepare candidates for ‘real-world’ roofing, with modules including law, surveying and estimating, tendering and procurement, specifications and systems – all delivered through interactive, engaging activities providing the essential skills and knowledge to progress in the roofing industry.
The course is accredited by the Institute of Roofing and as well as receiving an industry-recognised qualification, successful candidates will become associate members of the Institute.
Using a modern, innovative e-learning delivery, the course involves self-study through online videos, exercises, quizzes allowing learners to go at their own pace and fit the course round their existing work commitments.
Candidates will also meet on five days over a number of weeks to complete scenario workshops, get feedback and test their knowledge. The course is assessed on a straightforward and impartial marking criteria with a 70% pass threshold.
The new courses are running in Caerphilly, Wales starting on Tuesday 16 October, and in the North West at the David Lloyd Fitness Centre just south of Preston (PR6 8AB, off junct 8, M61) on Wednesday 24 October. Candidates on both courses will meet for one day, every two weeks.
