Russell Roof Tiles has celebrated one of its longest serving employees, John Jamieson, following his retirement after 44 years at the roof tile manufacturer.
John, aged 65, who lives in Lockerbie, Scotland joined the manufacturer in 1974 aged 21, where he went on to build a successful career.
John began his career at the company as a lorry driver at the Lochmaben site but developed quickly to undertake positions in Quality Control and Yard Management. He was then promoted to Stock Control before taking up a role in Production Planning, where he remained until his retirement.
Over the years, John has seen many changes in the industry, including one of the worst recessions in history where many companies suffered losses and the ongoing construction skills gap that faces the industry today.
Russell Roof Tiles has seen a number of employees celebrate significant work milestones over the years. This year alone, 10 employees across the business have received long service awards ranging from 15-30 years.
Bruce Laidlaw, Production Director at Russell Roof Tiles said, “Russell Roof Tiles has always understood the importance of supporting its employees, so they can build a successful career with us.
“John was no exception. Having been a pivotal member of the team for over 40 years, he witnessed significant changes and saw the Lochmaben site grow and expand over the years.
“As a thank you from us, John was presented with a watch, an engraved tankard and holiday vouchers. We wish him the best of luck in his retirement.”
