MIKE Wharton, is taking the lead as the new CEO of Warrington-based roofing contracting business, Complete Roofing Systems Ltd, from the end of January 2019.
Mike is the former Head of Business Development, and previously, Membership and Commercial Services at the National Federation of Roofing Contractors (NFRC). He left NFRC in October 2018 after more than 13 years with the trade association.
Joining the company, Mike said, “I’m delighted to be joining Complete Roofing Systems and look forward to taking the business forward. There’s a great team and the prospect of developing and employing the future strategy both regionally and nationally is really attractive.”
Complete Roofing Systems is already a well-established business offering both pitched, flat and sheeting and cladding, as well as specialising in industrial and commercial refurbishment and maintenance contracts. The company has a number of high-profile blue-chip clients and also has established a facilities management business.
Mike, who previously helped to oversee the operational development of the roofing accreditation scheme, RoofCERT during his time at the NFRC, said he still intends to keep a close eye on the scheme as it is implemented: “I very much believe in RoofCERT and what NFRC is driving. It’s the best way of addressing issues of standards, defects, payments and the skills gap. It should also help to bring pressure to change the law on retentions, which continues to be a major problem affecting roofing firms, as well as extending training to operatives nationwide.
“I’m at the sharp end now with Complete Roofing Systems and I will ensure that our roofing operatives are RoofCERT accredited as appropriate and we will be championing the scheme as a whole,” Mike added.
