National Buying Group celebrated its sector suppliers in its Awards last week (Tuesday 13th November) at the climax of its annual conference.
The National Buying Group (NBG) unites 85 independent building merchants as partners, each of which take a turn to form one of eight product Category Management Teams to pool their £90m annual buying power and negotiate product supply from more than 400 manufacturers.
Bringing together more than 600 partners, suppliers and guests, a gala dinner also marked the group’s 15th anniversary. The ceremony, that took place in Liverpool, saw awards presented to individuals, brands and businesses to reward achievement and showcase outstanding service.
Awards were presented to suppliers from each of NBG’s Category Management Teams after votes from partners were counted. First-place winners included: H+H UK Ltd – Celcon (Brick & Block); Acheson & Glover Ltd (Civils & Landscaping); T I Midwood & Co Ltd (Decorating & Hardware); Quinn Cement (General Building); Merlyn (Plumbing, Heating & Showrooms); Knauf Insulation Ltd (Roofing & Insulation); Toolbank Ltd (Tools & Workwear); and MDM Timber Ltd (Timber).
Roofing and Insulation awards went to:
- 1st place Knauf Insulation Ltd
- 2nd place Celotex
- 3rd place Quinn Therm Ltd
John Gaunt, of Knauf Insulation, scooped the award for Account Manager of the Year for the fourth consecutive year. He said: “It’s an absolute honour to win Account Manager of the Year again. I have been with Knauf for over 20 years and have built some fantastic relationships. I’m truly grateful for the help and support I have received from NBG over the years.”
The NBG is currently focusing on its Roofing and Insulation category, seeking to build relationships with both roofing product manufacturers and merchants. Merchants must have a minimum turnover of £3m to join the NBG, pay a partner joining and annual membership fee and be willing to serve their turn on the roofing and insulation category management team.
