New Construction Training Hub Announced at IoR Meeting

THE HEAD OFFICE of Filon Building Products played host to the Midlands regional meeting of the Institute of Roofing (IoR) on 15 May 2019.

The meeting, led by Howard Evans- Chair of the IoR’s Midlands region along with Vice Chair Kate Whatley, attracted 28 IoR members and guests.

During the meeting, a Filon employee delivered a CPD presentation on industrial roof lights that touched on identification, deterioration and repair. This was followed by a demonstration of the Filon Fixsafe System.

Midlands Roof Training Group’s Paul Harper also spoke at the event. He gave an update on the group’s activities including what’s available by way of grants, courses and qualifications for all involved in the roofing industry. He also presented an opportunity for all members to get involved with a new management and leadership course.

New construction training hub
Following the presentations, Kate Whatley along with Sam Broomhall of Juniper Training, announced the launch of a new construction industry training hub. Set to open its doors in August, the new Walsall-based facility will offer a vocational pathway into the construction industry for 16 to 18-year-olds.

To conclude the day, Filon offered attendees a factory tour followed by a buffet lunch.
