THE CONSTRUCTION Leadership Council has updated the Site Operating Procedures to the latest version 4 guidance on safe site working practices.
The changes in Site Operating Procedures version 4 include removal of the requirement for face to face contact to be kept to 15 minutes or less.
Unite recently criticised the inclusion of any provision for cases when social distancing could not be maintained. The union said that if social distancing could not be observed consistently then sites could contribute to the spread of covid-19.
Other guidance on PPE advises that when social distancing can be maintained construction workers should not wear RPE.
The updated guidance also reflects measures many companies are introducing such as one-way systems and the reconfiguration of seating and toilets
The new SOP version makes clear that risk assessments should now be shared with the workforce to provide confidence in site arrangements.
It also discusses arrangements for travel to site and during work hours as the government has updated its advice on travel.
The updated procedures has live links with several government advisories.
