THE National Federation of Roofing Contractors – NFRC North West and Wales region has recruited eight new committee members including a Chair to support, and promote the strategic goals of the regional NFRC.

The NFRC says, “At a time when the industry is faced with a number of challenges, from inflation and price increases to material availability to skills shortages, the new committee bring experience, empathy, varied skill sets and valuable industry knowledge. They are focused on taking a professional, involved and proactive approach to the region, with a view to raising the profile of NFRC and encouraging further member engagement.”

Mike Ward (North West and Wales Regional Chairman), Director, Comm Commercial Projects Ltd

A quantity surveyor by trade, Mike has a bias towards cladding and sheeting, though also undertaking felt flat roofs. Mike currently works for a cladding and roofing contractor based in Liverpool, but his past experience includes Healthcare and Civil Engineering, both on the contractor and client side.

Jennifer Beddard, Marketing and Sales Executive, Beddard Roofing Ltd — a successful family run business.

Jennifer works in domestic roofing with her husband, and wants to help improve and raise the standards throughout the industry. Jennifer is looking forward to working with NFRC to promote the benefits of membership, and the work of NFRC and its members to the wider public.

Tom Carroll, Estimator, The Sovini Group
Tom joins the committee having had a career in roofing since he was 15 years old and having worked in a family business which has since been incorporated into The Sovini Group. Tom’s full circle career history enables him to relate to the issues with both smaller and larger members, which is of great advantage to the members within the region.

Melissa Fazackerley, SHEQ Manager, Longworth Building Services — a building envelope contractor.

Melissa is responsible for reviewing and advising on policy, procedures and new initiatives for safety, health, environment and quality on all Longworth sites. Additionally, throughout the business, Melissa brings her knowledge and experience to training, strategic planning and essential works on risk management.

Caroline Haslam, Head of QSHE, FK Group Ltd — a full building envelope provider
FK Group specialise in roofing, cladding, glazing and maintenance across many sectors with a focus on innovation, applying new thinking, exploring and refining ideas. Caroline’s areas of expertise are Occupational Health and Safety with a particular interest in the health of the workforce.

Jonathan Jones, Director, Flintshire Roofing Ltd — a long-established roofing specialist
Since its establishment in 1994, Flintshire Roofing has grown to become one of the region’s most respected roofing companies, covering North Wales, Cheshire, the Wirral and Liverpool.

Phil Medford, Divisional Director, HS RoofClad — a family owned and run business

HS Roof Clad provides total envelope solutions within industrial and commercial sectors. Phil brings a broad range of experience within the industry and in his current role, to help deliver NFRC objectives.

Joanne Stewart, Office Manager, Spar Roofing — Wirral, Merseyside

Spar Roofing is a family-run business, founded in 1978 by Joanne’s father, David Stewart. Joanne has taken over the running of the business and wants to share her knowledge and experience with other members, along with helping to improve and develop the region on many levels.

Juliet Thompson, NFRC North West Regional Manager said: “I am highly enthused by the new Chair and committee members we now have in place for the North West region. I believe that the combined experience and diversity across the membership of the committee will bring fresh input and reinvigorate the understanding of what NFRC does for the sector, its members and the wider public. There are some new working methods that are being introduced into the region and the new committee members are contributing with ideas and fully supportive of the positive changes required.

“It is worth noting that we would like to hear from any like-minded members who are interested in making a difference to the region. I would welcome discussions with any North West NFRC Members who might also be interested in joining the committee.”
