NFRC TRAINING and Technical Manager, Simon Dixon, has been shortlisted for the UK Construction Week Role Model 2020 awards.

The UKCW Role Model awards aim to showcase the diverse range of talent in the construction industry to inspire the next generation of construction professionals.

Simon has worked in the roofing industry for almost 40 years, 22 of which have been in roof training, having started his career as an apprentice slater.

Simon Dixon successfully organised the first ever Roofing Careers Hub at Skillbuild 2019, bringing together several key industry suppliers to help to attract young people into a roofing career.
Simon Dixon regularly visits schools to tell youngsters about a career in roofing.

NFRC Head of Technical, Bob Richardson commented, “I am delighted that Simon has been shortlisted for this prestigious award, in recognition of everything he has done to promote quality in roof training to the next generation. Simon doesn’t do it for the glory, but for his desire to inspire others and after 40 years in the industry, he is very deserving of this recognition.”

“Simon had critical involvement in establishing the first-ever Roofing Hub and has advocated for the industry in schools and colleges across the country. From his involvement with the T-level Panel creating new technical qualifications for construction, to his expert judging at Skills Build, Simon has been at the forefront of promoting our sector.”

“I am sure the roofing community will join me and the NFRC in wishing Simon all the best for the awards later this year”.
