Coleg Cambria, in Connah’s Quay, North Wales will play host to the event on 10 October, where ex-service personnel will meet national and North West-based construction and civil engineering employers.
The event aims to provide attendees with the chance to create new career paths by checking out employment, career and training opportunities available to them in the North West.
The Ministry of Defence, Careers Transition Partnership and CITB Wales have all partnered for the occasion, which promises a number of presentations alongside a fully subscribed Employers Exhibition, including: Kier, Jennings, Willmott Dixon, Redrow, Watkin Jones and more.
Sue Wharton, Group Training Officer at North West Roof Training Group said: “This is an opportunity for us to reach out to an untapped source of labour. It’s forecast that in the North West, some 550 additional staff will be required within the next four years.
“Our own NWRTG display will focus on training opportunities and career paths in the roofing industry. The fact that NFRC members, Avonside Group Services and Longworth Building Services have chosen to support us by accepting our invitation to exhibit, indicates their eagerness to offer openings in a wide range of fields within the industry, as they, too, acknowledge the potential in this market.
Redland Tiles, now part of the BMI Group and a NFRC supplier member, has been generous in its offer to provide practical displays of roofing. DMR Training & Consultancy – brand new roofing apprentice training providers and long-time roofing assessors – will also be showcasing training opportunities across construction within the region.”
