Rhino Products Wins Welsh Manufacturer of the Year Award

The 4th of October was a night to remember for Europe’s commercial vehicle accessory company, Rhino Products, who won Manufacturer of the Year (turnover under £25m) at the 2018 Made in Wales Awards.

Rhino Products include roof racks, roof bars, access steps, ladder restraints and related accessories.

The award was presented to business owners, Steve Egerton and Clive Boult, at a black-tie event attended by many of the biggest players from across the Welsh manufacturing sector at Cardiff City Hall.

Steve Egerton said, “We are delighted to be recognised as Manufacturer of the Year as our production processes are something that we have always prided ourselves on and an area which has undergone significant investment in recent years.”

The Rhino Products 5100m2 factory in Deeside, Flintshire has been through a series of changes in the past 18 months with the incorporation of several new product lines following the company’s acquisition of AVS Steps – a manufacturer of passenger vehicle side steps. A mezzanine floor and a second lean lift were area were added to the production area to accommodate the rapid growth of the business over this period as AVS Steps production was incorporated into the Flintshire site.

Rhino’s further investments in Deeside this year have included a new conveyor and wrapper system improving production throughput and a 3D printer used by their design team to help with new product development and cutting-edge projects.

However, the biggest announcement regarding investment into Rhino Products’ manufacturing processes came with the news that they will be opening a new 9000 m2 custom-built factory near to their current facility (which will be remaining open) to help meet their ambitions European expansion plans.

Also in attendance at the event were Rhino Products’ Design Engineer Manager Kevin Broadbent, Production Manager Darren Johnson, Finance Director James Prince, Group IT Director David Williams, Account Administrator Paulina Williams, Sally Boult and Jayne Egerton.

As a result of winning this award Rhino Products have been automatically shortlisted for manufacturer of the year in the Made in the UK nationwide finals being held at Coventry’s Ricoh Arena in 2019.
