Roofing and Construction Materials Maker Drives up Revenues

Welsh Slate tiles

THE COMPANY behind the Welsh Slate brand, Breedon, has said it expects to report increased turnover and earnings despite a flat UK construction market generally, following the end of its financial year.

Breedon, which made the announcement in a trading update to shareholders, says its results have had a significant boost following its purchase of Belfast-based Lagan Group in April.

The company also produces concrete tiles among other construction products.

Total turnover is expected to be £800m, up 8 per cent from its last financial year, while earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) are expected to be between £114m and £118m.

A statement accompanying the results said: “The integration of Lagan is now largely complete and we remain confident of delivering the anticipated annual cost synergies.

“Roadway Civil Engineering & Surfacing Ltd, acquired on 1 October, is performing as expected.

“Assuming no materially adverse weather conditions for the remainder of the year, the Group’s Underlying EBIT for the full year is expected to be in line with current market expectations”
